National Board Certification is a voluntary process for teachers that is designed to complement initial state licensure. Frederick County Public Schools is offering $750 in local grants to teachers pursuing National Board Certification during the 2024-25 school year.
Applicants for local grants must meet the following criteria:
A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Completed three years of full-time teaching experience or experience as a school counselor, by the end of the 2023-2024 school year.
A valid Virginia teaching license.
Full-time employment in Frederick County Public Schools for the 2024-2025 school year as a teacher or a school counselor.
If selected for a local grant, the candidate must apply to NBPTS and make the required payments.
The local grant will be paid directly to the candidate after successful completion of the NBC process. The candidate submits their paid receipt (for all four components and any retake fees) and a copy of their certificate to the office of the Supervisor Professional Learning and Federal Programs.
